Join us for a day of environmental action!

June 6, 2024

Instead of an anniversary party, we’re asking our community to come together to celebrate our 30th year by taking action for the benefit of our environment!

By choosing not to gather, we’ll save significant carbon emissions from lack of travel, food, and waste. Instead, join us in serving our planet:

Conserve

Even small actions make a positive difference. Carpool to work, plant a tree, or maximize your home's efficiency.

The Intervale Center manages a 360-acre campus of farmland, trails and open space along the Winooski River in Burlington, VT. Their mission is to strengthen community food systems that sustain farms, land, and people.

As a pillar in the Burlington community, we couldn't think of a better organization to spend our time volunteering with and raising funds for to celebrate our 30th year. While we work in different ways toward environmental sustainability, we're tied together by a shared sense of belonging and stewardship of the environment.

Your financial support, no matter the size, goes a long way in helping the Intervale Center continue to thrive in this community that Cx Associates calls home, and we'd be so grateful if you'd help us support their important work.

Conserve

Conserving energy and nature at home is crucial for sustainability. Simple practices like turning off lights, unplugging electronics, and using energy-efficient appliances can significantly reduce energy consumption (and may be incentivized!). Planting native and pollinator-friendly species or removing invasive species in yards or gardens helps support local ecosystems and biodiversity. Water conservation plays a vital role too; fixing leaks, using low-flow fixtures, and collecting rainwater minimize water waste. Practicing mindful consumption by shopping local, composting organic waste, and reducing single-use plastics helps with the cultural shift needed to move toward more sustainable systems. These small actions collectively make a meaningful difference.

Whether you're inspired to implement a small behavioral shift, or you're undertaking a big project like installing a heat pump this summer, we'd love to hear about it! Share your efforts and we may share them with our network (with your permission, of course)!

Volunteer

Volunteering is not just something we should do to help others, or help our environment, but evidence shows that we're hard-wired to give, and in giving we find many benefits for our well-being.  There are so many incredible organizations locally and beyond doing incredible work on behalf of our environment that would love you to share some of your time.

Here are just a few to explore for opportunities:

The Intervale Center

The Nature Conservancy

Lake Champlain Basin Program

Vermont Center for Ecostudies

Green Mountain Club
